SLA 2015 Hot Topic Session: Building the Resilient Library –Watch the Video Now!
Lucidea
Special librarians achieve sustainability by understanding that end user requirements and forces at work (e.g. new technologies, globalization and a mobile workforce) all demand change.
Attendees at the SLA Hot Topics session, “Building the Resilient Library: Leverage Change and Become Indispensable,” heard practical advice from three forward thinking peers who leverage and even create change based on four important principles:
- Access and discovery
- Independence
- Integration
- Secure organizational support
Our speakers were Lucidea ILS and KM clients Cindy Moon-Barna (Director, CASE InfoCenter), Jennifer Hermsen (Kemin Industries, WW Information & SharePoint Manager), and Karen McQuillen, (ETS, Acting Executive Director, Connect). Each speaker gave in-depth comments and practical advice, based on their own experience leveraging and creating change to help ensure the sustainability of their libraries – and ultimately to optimize their own roles.
We recorded the session, so if you didn’t have the opportunity to attend – or if you did, and would like to revisit the content – you can now watch a video of the discussion where our speakers share their thoughts on what it means to be a resilient library today.
In addition, we produced a whitepaper (available for download) that presents the compelling information shared during the event, combined with additional valuable insights gained from panelist interviews conducted in preparation for the discussion.
Topics covered in the video include:
- Leveraging and creating change: practical examples
- Securing organizational support – what works
- Examples of impact
- Characteristics of library change agents
Through our new video (and the whitepaper) enjoy actionable advice from change agents who make change work for them as they stay focused on the principles of access, independence, integration and organizational support. Think “change resilience,” not change resistance – and become truly indispensable!
