Historic Property Redevelopment Programs (HPRPs), also known as revolving funds, are proactive programs that use real estate strategies such as purchase/resale, rehabilitation, easements, options, tax credits, loans, grants, and other strategies to preserve historic buildings. Nonprofit preservation groups across the country have successfully repurposed thousands of buildings using these techniques and other innovative strategies. In the process, they have partnered with local stakeholders to tackle big issues, like economic revitalization, neighborhood development, gentrification, equitable housing, climate change, and smart growth.
